FRITES ATELIER GHENT HAS OPENED ITS DOORS
Gent, 25 oktober 2018 – Today is the day, the second establishment of Frites Atelier in Belgium is open for business. The establishment is located at the Groentenmarkt 20 in Ghent, and offers more seating and a wider range of products compared to the other locations.
Frites, burgers, salads and Belgium Beer
Frites Atelier Ghent offers more than just Frites. Dutch topchef and co-owner of Frites Atelier, Sergio Herman, who is awarded with many Michelinstars, developed just for our atelier in Ghent two different burgers and two new salads. We offer the Classic Angus Beefburger and the Very Vegan Burger. Not in the mood for a burger?Try the delicious new Caesar Style Chicken Salad or the Eat Your Vegan Green Salad!
Recently Frites Atelier and the Belgian beer giant AbInbev started a collaboration, so you can combine our delicious food with the best beers Belgium has to offer! On tap we serve Stella Artois and the specialty-beers Hoegaarden, Karmeliet Tripel and Goose Island I.P.A.
“We think that Ghent is an amazing town and it gives us, therefore, great pride to have found such a fantastic location in Ghent: the Groentenmarkt is not just centrally located within the shopping area, but it is also close the beautiful Graven Castle. The preparations for the refurbishment of the property have started, the permit process is underway, and it is our intention to collaborate with as many local parties as possible. The hospitality in Ghent, as we have experienced it, is unique, so we are honoured to receive our first guests very quickly”, says Pieter Munten (Managing Partner Frites Atelier).
More seating and more extensive selection
“The food scene in this town has changed considerably and Ghent seems to embrace new food concepts. For this location of Frites Atelier, the focus was more on creating more seating and we are, therefore, very happy to have found this property in the centre of town” says Sergio. The new restaurant has 22 seats on the ground floor and the first floor offers the possibility to create another 30. Outside, the Atelier has a terrace which offers at least 35 seats. Besides that, the selection of dishes will be completely in line with all the other Frites Ateliers, but the menu will be slightly more extensive with more exclusive snacks and other things developed by Sergio and Belgian draft beer.
A taste for more
Frites Atelier will add another new restaurant, in Brussels, to the growing list. The opening of a new restaurant requires new catering and hospitality professionals. This is why Frites Atelier is on the lookout for truly dedicated and enthusiastic professionals, not just in management, but also in the kitchen and in the restaurant, both full time and part time.

Frites Atelier evolved from our business founders’ love for French fries. Everyone eats fries: we believe that nothing is nicer than a delicious serving of fries or hot chips topped with a matching sauce. And who is the one you need to make the best fries ever? Exactly, star-rated Chef Sergio Herman. After more than 18 months of testing different potato varieties, researching soil types and other issues related to creating top quality fries, the time has finally arrived. The opening of the first Frites Atelier became reality in Amsterdam in 2016; next to The Hague. Later that year, more businesses were opened in Antwerp, Arnhem and Utrecht.

Driven by my passion for cooking, I took the Oud Sluis restaurant to the very highest of culinary levels; a 3-star Michelin rating. Since then, I have given myself a new culinary challenge: French fries. For more than one and a half years we tested and tasted potatoes with just one aim: to prepare beautiful, delicious fries with sensational toppings for you!
